By simply not doing anything and letting your teen dig himself more and more in a hole, you are attributing to their demise. If your troubled teenager believes what he is doing is acceptable with you as a parent, then he will continue to display the same behavior. The saying goes, "give him an inch and he'll take a mile," can actually be quite literal when dealing with teenage boys. It is important to set reasonable and fair boundaries which your teenage boy needs to follow. Setting boundaries for child and making sure he follows these boundaries, will help keep him on track .

Make sure you let your child know early on that they have to face consequences for the decisions and choices they make. Let them know that they are fully responsible for their actions and that you are simply their to guide them and give them direction.

It is also very important that you do not bail your troubled teen out of tight spots that they put themselves in. As a parent this may be a very difficult thing to do. It is natural for a parent to feel like they need to be protective over their child in a time of need, but if your troubled teen makes poor choices, he needs to learn that he must face the consequences.

It can be very dangerous for a troubled teenage boy to live without boundaries and believe that whatever happens his parents will bail him out. Don't make the mistake by letting your child run a muck and completely de-rail his life. As a parent you need to take action!
